Why people do not dare to homeschool their kids

I have yet to come up with anything "negative" about home schooling. Not one thing.

Of course, this view depends on the standard by which you measure the negatives and positives.

If my personal (fleshly) benefit is the standard, then I could think of a whole lot of negatives.

I would no longer be able to listen to radio programs, watch TV, spend an hour on the phone with my friend, go to Bible studies, workout at the gym, or go shopping by myself while the kids are in school.

I would have to put my flesh to death and give my attention to my children, saving most of my own "needs" (and I use that term lightly <g>) for a future season.

I would have to face my own parental shortcomings (sin!) like impatience, unreasonable expectations of my children, angry outbursts, etc., and CHANGE my behavior. ==:-o

I would have to actually DEAL WITH my children's behavior problems since I could no longer push those problems out the door for the majority of daytime hours and blissfully avoid them.

I wouldn't be able to blame teachers or fellow students for my own children's behavior problems. Ouch!

The WORST thing about home schooling is that I would probably undergo some radical re-thinking of what I once considered "the way things are" and end up with heartfelt convictions about issues that affect the way I live and HAVE TO CHANGE MY LIFE. (Horrors!)

When you look at it that way, no wonder people would NOT want to home school their kids!! ;-)
